I made two of these twister wreath wall hangings this December, they are so fun! And easy, too! The twister ruler for 5" unfinished squares is the 3 1/2" ruler. You need 1/2 yard of at least 4 different fabrics.
Cut from the wreath fabric: 16-5" squares and
From the background fabric: 9-5" squares and 4-3" x width of fabric (WOF) strips
From the inner border fabric: 4-1 1/2" x WOF strips
From the outer border fabric: 4-3 1/2" x WOF strips
Lay out the 5" squares and sew them together.
Sew on the 4-3" x WOF strips. Trim to the quilt top after you sew on each one.
Use your 3 1/2" twister ruler to cut out your pieces. (I made a twister ruler from my normal 6" ruler just to see how it would work. It worked great, but I recommend using an actual 3 1/2" twister ruler for you first wreath so it will be easier.)
Turn your piece counter clockwise. (The top left corner should go to the left.)
It's best if you have a spot to lay out your pieces as you cut them; a design wall is even better. If not, it's very hard to reassemble the wreath shape!
Sew together all your pieces.
Add on the borders. Trim the borders to the quilt top as you sew on each side.
Add on a bow if you like. The first one I made, I added a bow, then after I basted it I quilted in a meandering pattern around the bow.
The second one I made, I decided to not add a bow, then quilted cross hatching over the wreath, a decorative stitch on the inner border, and loops on the outer border.
Add a hanging sleeve, then display it in the perfect spot!
