What you need:
Color fabric:
- 5 - 4 3/8" squares
- 5 - 4 3/8" squares
Make the half square triangles (HST). Lay one white 4 3/8" square on a color square right sides together. Mark a diagonal line along the squares, then sew 1/4" away from both sides of the line. Cut along the line, then press open and trim each HST to measure 3 1/2" square.
Repeat this with the remaining squares so that you have 10 HSTs.
You only need 9 HSTs, so put one of them in your scrap fabric stash.
Assemble the block.
