Assembly

Step 1. Referring to the next 6 photos, make the nine patch blocks. Sew together 5 - 2 1/2" color fabric squares and 4 - 2 1/2" white fabric squares per block. Make a total of 4 nine patch blocks. Use all of the 2 1/2" squares.

Step 2. Make the half square triangles (HST). Use the 4 3/8" squares. Lay a white 4 3/8" square on a color fabric 4 3/8" square right sides together. Mark a diagonal line along the squares, then sew 1/4" from both sides of the line.

Cut along the line, then press open and trim to measure 3 1/2" square.

Repeat the previous sewing method using the remaining pair of 4 3/8" squares to make a total of 4 HSTs.

Step 3. Make the center pinwheel. Referring to the next 3 photos, sew together the 4 HSTs.

Step 4. Make the flying geese blocks. Use the 4 1/4" white fabric squares and the 2 3/8" color fabric squares. Lay 2 of the 2 3/8" squares on the 4 1/4" square right sides together. Mark a diagonal line along the squares, then sew 1/4" away from both sides of the line.

Cut along the line, then press back the squares.

Lay 2 more 2 3/8" squares on top of the white fabric square pieces right sides together. Mark diagonal lines along the squares, then sew 1/4" away from both sides of the line.

Cut along the line and press back the squares. One set of 1 - 4 1/4" square and 4 - 2 3/8" squares makes 4 flying geese blocks. Using the remaining squares, make a total of 16 flying geese blocks.

Step 5. Referring to the next few photos, make the star blocks. Sew together 4 flying geese blocks, 4 - 2" white fabric squares, and 1 - 3 1/2" color fabric square per star block. Make a total of 4 star blocks.

Make a total of 4 star blocks.

Step 6. Assemble the block. According to the next 3 photos, sew together the star blocks, center pinwheel, and the nine patch blocks. Pressing: Press towards the nine patch blocks and the center pinwheel.
