Quilted Sunglasses Pouch

This quilted sunglasses pouch has two layers of quilt batting to protect your sunglasses, and it's nice and roomy so you can put many different sizes of glasses in it. There's Velcro at the top to keep your sunglasses from falling out.

What you need:

From the lining fabric:

  • 2 - 5" x 8" pieces
Outer fabric:
  • 2 - 5" x 8" pieces
Batting:
  • 4 - 5" x 8" pieces
Other:
  • 2 - 1/2" x 2" strips of Velcro

Layer your lining and outer fabric pieces onto the 4 batting pieces and quilt. I did some simple straight line quilting, but feel free to do as much or as little quilting as you want!

Pin the outer fabric pieces right sides together and sew around the perimeter using a 1/4" seam allowance. Leave one of the small ends completely open. Repeat this for the lining pieces, but leave a 2" opening at the second small end. The other small end will be left completely open as with the outer fabric pieces.

Trim the corners.

DON'T turn the lining piece around yet! Turn just the outer fabric piece and press to help it lay flat.

Insert the outer fabric piece INTO the yet to be turned lining piece. Line up the ends.

Sew around the top using 1/4" seam allowance.

Reach into the 2" opening in the lining and pull the outer fabric out.

Press the 2" opening closed and sew shut.

Push the lining down into the outer fabric. Almost done! One at a time, place the Velcro strips into the top of your sunglasses pouch and top stitch to hold in place. Use a decorative stitch, zigzag, or a couple of straight stitches. Not only does this keep the Velcro in place, but it also holds together the pouch.

And your sunglasses pouch is complete!
