What you need:
Color fabric:
- 2 - 4 3/8" squares
- 4 - 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" rectangles
White fabric:
- 2 - 4 3/8" squares
- 4 - 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" rectangles
- 1 - 3 1/2" square
Make the half square triangles (HST). Lay one 4 3/8" white fabric square on a color fabric 4 3/8" square right sides together. Mark a diagonal line along the squares, then sew 1/4" away from both side of the line. Cut along the line. Press open and trim to measure 3 1/2" square.
Repeat this with the remaining pair of 4 3/8" squares so you have a total of 4 HSTs.
Sew the 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" rectangles onto the 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" rectangles to make 4 separate 3 1/2" squares.
Assemble the block.
3 blocks to go!
