This method is perfect for fabric scraps! I didn't cut any of these pieces, I just squared up all of my purple scraps. I love this tutorial on how to make a no measuring quilt:
The Lazy Quilters Quilt - No Measuring Required! - Tidbits
If you have scraps of fabrics that you don't want to cut up too small, this method works great! It comes together fast, and the results are beautiful.
Add a border or two if you want. I ended up using ALL my purple fabrics from the one collection, but I thought the quilt was a little small. So then I added the striped purple and white border with a different purple for the corners. This brought it to the size I wanted, and framed the fabrics beautifully!
If you want a baby quilt, lap quilt, or a large throw quilt, you must try this! It is fun to piece and to finally stop worrying about everything lining up. However, I am a planner and do enjoy having all my pieces to cut and how to sew them planned out. I write my own patterns and by the time I am done making lists of what I need for a quilt, I have everything memorized. I like knowing EXACTLY what I'm doing and how it should turn out. This was a good experience for me. I learned to let go and let the scraps end up wherever they fit. I will probably do this again once I have more coordinating scraps.
