Scrap Block #18

This block is an Ohio Star variation. It takes the bottom left corner of two Ohio Stars and stacks them.

What you need:

Color fabric:

  • 1 - 5" square
  • 2 - 4 3/8" squares
  • 2 - 3 1/2" squares
White fabric:

  • 1 - 5" square
  • 3 - 3 1/2" squares

Make the half square triangles (HST). Lay the 5" squares right sides together. Mark a diagonal line along the squares.

Sew 1/4" from both sides of the line, then cut along the line.

Press open and trim to measure 4 3/8" square

Lay the 4 3/8" squares on top of the 4 3/8" HSTs. Mark a diagonal line on each pair of squares perpendicular to the seams in the HSTs.

Sew 1/4" away from both sides of the line, then trim along the line. Press open and trim to measure 3 1/2" square. Assemble the block.

31 more to go! 3 more to finish this row!
